yesterday, it looked like this outside [below], so i made these [above].
i spotted a similar hair clip at j.crew this spring [with an $18 pricetag] and that phrase i've heard my mom say a thousand times came into my head.
i could make that.
so i did. they're super duper easy.
here's what you need:
-scrap fabric, cut into three 1-inch by 7-inch strips and three 1/2-inch by 6 1/2-inch strips
[i cut up leftover pennant flags from the wedding for mine, hence the pointed tips]
-needle and thread
-small hair clip
-button or beads
[i started with a button, but switched to beads halfway through the project]
-scissors
-hot glue gun
1. for the bottom set of petals, make a loop with each of the three large strips
[like this...]
5. layer the small strips on top of the large strips, stitching them all together numerous times.
6. when the petals are secured, add a button or beads to the top and stitch through all the layers. you can also add a little hot glue under the button or beads if necessary.
xoxo.
