happy birthday to my handsome nephew, curtis! being the youngest in my family, curtis is really the one of the few in our family that i can say nonsense statements to, like, "i remember when you were born!" the first time i held curtis was nearly 11 years ago today, and i was only 12. my sister and brother-in-law were unpacking the car as they had just arrived in town, and i sat with him in my arms in the striped chair in our living room and whispered to him, "curtis, i think we'll be great friends."
