on moving.

We've dropped below the 20-day mark. Our journey to Texas begins in less than 19 days. I almost can't believe it. The decision to move was made quickly, but certainly not without care. Now that all the details are coming together, it's starting to get real, which has me thinking about things.

Lately, I've been thinking about what I'll still have in Texas and what I'll be going without.

I won't have my family or Landon's family nearby, a blessing I have so enjoyed these past seven months.
I won't have Maryn (bff) 45 minutes away to share dinners with.
I won't have those warm and breezy Oregon summer nights, filled with wiffleball games, or dairy queen blizzards, or slow jogs at sunset.
I won't have the comfort of my home state. My sweet Oregon.
I might not have the opportunity to join in pounding my uncles to the ground at the 2011 Turkey Bowl.

But, I will have Landon.
And, from what I've heard there are in fact telephones and Dairy Queens in Texas. So family, friends and blizzards are all accessible from the Lone Star State. Check, check and check.
I will have the opportunity to find a new community of friends and family-away-from-family.
And, most importantly, I will still have the joy and the trials and the opportunities for faith that come with being constantly refined by Christ's presence in my life. And likely in ways I can't even imagine.

So sometimes it feels like we're giving up a lot in order to follow this journey. But then I realize that we'll have just what we need.

xoxo.

I am in the midst of making a decision to move to TX as well from CA and think that is most likely where I will end up after my fiance graduates with his masters since the jobs in his field are there...so we both might be Lone Star State Girls! :) I hope everything goes smoothly for you, Katie!

This is super inspiring. My hubby and I will most likely move away from family at the end of this year, and trusting in the Lord's plan is all I have to cling on to! Loved this post and love your blog!

Aghhh! Craziness! So exciting though. You two have such an amazing opportunity to completely lay down your own roots, a home-away-from home. New sites, food, and community. Such an adventure! xoxo

wow, big changes! Sounds exciting to me! So true, in the ways the Lord defines us and reminds us to be dependant on him vs. what we believe we need to depend on daily.

:) can't wait to read your posts from Texas!
