the flowers.

Tuesday it is. Today, in honor of our wedding weekiversary, I'm talking flowers! This was one of my favorite details of our wedding, and mostly because of the stories behind them.
My mother-in-law, DeAnn, offered to coordinate all the flowers for us, which was such a blessing. One of her friends grew the flowers for our bouquets! More on that later. First up, the table flowers. DeAnn, grew a lot of these gorgeous flowers in her yard. To supplement, she posted a little notice at the Curves where she worked to let the ladies know that if they had any flowers in their yard that they wanted to contribute, they could drop them off on her front porch the day before our wedding. When she came home on that Friday, her porch was filled with flowers. Makes me tear up just thinking about it! Landon's aunts and uncle (what, uncle? awesome, I know) arranged them in glass jars, which had the table numbers painted on them. You know how they say "It takes a village to raise a child"? Well, it kind of took a village to make our wedding happen, and I like that.

Like I said, most of our bouquet flowers were homegrown, and my mom made the fabric wraps to hold them.
English tea roses. Can I get an amen?
Even sweet Shayla had her own bouquet!
But by far my favorite part of the whole flower story was being able to give my bouquet to my grandma.  She's the sweetest lady I know, and I wanted to honor her not only for what she means to me, but for what she means to our entire family.

The flowers were just a detail, but the stories behind them makes them so much more.

xoxo
