our (so far) house tour.

Happy Monday! Today I bring you a longer post, with lots of photos from our new home in Abilene. While we've made a lot of progress in some areas, we definitely have a lot of work ahead of us in others. Starting with the bedroom...
Sources: Duvet + shams: Pottery Barn | Floral and striped pillows: Ikea | Side table: Hobby Lobby
I love, love, love our bedding, and in my opinion you can never have too many pillows! Things to add in this room: headboard, dressers and nightstands.
We bought this side table a few weeks ago, and I'm using it as a nightstand for now, but I'm planning to move it to the living room once we get some more furniture in there.

 Moving on to the office...
Sources: Desk top: DIY | Desk sawhorses: Ikea | Baskets: Ikea | Chair: Target | Curtains: Target | Bookshelf: Office Max
I love having a nice, big desk that lets us really spread out (you can see how we made it here)! The TV stand in the corner is going to get a paint job in the coming weeks...I'm thinking all black except for the mirrored/gold accents, but I'm open to suggestions!
I'm still looking for some type of storage for these baskets. Maybe a bench with storage underneath?
Landon got this bookshelf on the cheapy cheap, and it's really helped us clean up the clutter of books we had going in this room.
Things to add to this room: more storage, and possibly some seating for the TV area.
And now, to the kitchen! First, some candle holders I made out of upside down mini-latte bowls with saucers on top!
Next, some open shelving, which adds a lot of color to the otherwise drab space.
Sources: Shelf: Ikea | Drop-leaf counter: Ikea | Silverware buckets: Ikea
Since we don't have a lot of extra space for a table in the kitchen, we went with this drop-leaf counter and a couple of stools. The print is a framed piece of wrapping paper, believe it or not, which is a map of the NYC subway system.
And remember when I was freaking out about not being able to bring all my dishes? Well, fear not, I still ended up with plenty.

Here's the main kitchen space. It's a little dark, which is why I love the open shelving.
We were a little short on drawer storage, so we added these little buckets for silverware. They're perfect!
Ah, and finally, our sad living room. It's empty for now, but we've got some great ideas for making it our own. Be watching for updates! Things to add to this room: EVERYTHING. :)
Feel free to offer any suggestions for our new space in the comments! I'm looking forward to having lots of updates for you in the coming weeks and months as we continue to make changes here.

xoxo.

I've always wanted open shelving in a kitchen, but it's not possible in my space. Someday! Love what you've done with you space!

What a cute place! I like the little two-person eat-in bar space in the kitchen. Looks like you have a lot of space in that place :)
