the anthology: holiday trees.

As I mentioned in my 12x2012 list, I'm trying to figure out an alternative Christmas tree option for the holidays. Since we won't be here for Christmas, it seems silly to spend money on a real tree, especially since we didn't have room to bring any of our decorations with us when we moved. Here are some ideas that I'm considering...

Okay, how amazing is this tree made out of ornaments? I'm in love. Not sure if I'm willing to spend the dough on all those boxes of ornaments, but maybe I can snag some on sale? We'll see.

I love this newspaper tree (from Martha, of course!), and I think it's my top choice so far. It would also be a little nod our college years when Landon and I were both studying journalism.

These pinecone trees are gorgeous, and would be pretty inexpensive I think. I love the idea of making a bunch of them and grouping them around the house.

Another paper tree beauty, this one is $48 at Anthro, but I think a DIY version would be pretty easy. I love that it's made with sheet music.

These ribbon trees are pretty clever...I think it would be fun to make a few and put them in our windows, like a little tree village!

And last but not least, another take on the newspaper tree. This would probably be the easiest option for us, since we already have metallic spray paint from our shiny pumpkins, and I love that you could still put presents under this one.

As always, a big thank you to Pinterest, my never-ending source of inspiration.

Which tree is your favorite?

xoxo.

I found a box of 18 ornaments at Goodwill for $1! Go scour and I'll bet you'll find some. Good luck!

I made some of those ribbon trees last year out of burlap and lacey white fabric. super fun! I made 90 of them to decorate my mom's shop. you just cut the poster board to a square and make cones, then go from there! Super easy.

First, thanks for entering the giveaway!:)
You know, I was just talking with my sister through comments on facebook about making decorations with old newspapers, and using old books or old newspapers or old magazines as gift wraping paper. She was telling me when she was a kid, that's how ppl used to do it in Romania.. I think it's so vintage-y... I love it! And these ideas are so cool, I'm sure you are going to make very cute tree! :)

The first is my FAVE with the bulbs. What a great alternative! I'd make it pink. I agree that the last is probably the most doable, and still SUPER CUTE!

My goodness, some people are seriously so creative. I really like the tree made out of ornaments and the last picture made out of newspaper. just wow! For all the times that my parents never got a Christmas tree because we were about to move or had just moved...I should have known I could have just made one out of newspaper!!

Love the newspaper tree idea because of Landon and your journalism background. Perhaps its too sentimental, but I absolutely love making connections from my personal/professional life to influence decorating choices..
