In honor of turning 24 yesterday, here's 24 things I've learned in my 24 years:
1. Change is good. Uncomfortable, but good.
2. Having perfect attendance for 6 years (7th-12th grade) was mostly pointless, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Worth every second of panic, nightmares about tardiness and the rolling of my sibling's eyes.
3. You have to get the spatula entirely under the piece of bread before flipping an egg-in-toast (thanks, Ryan).
4. You also have to hold the handle of the pan when flipping an egg-in-toast (thanks, Mom).
5. Practice your first dance before the day of your wedding, unless you want to look like awkward jr. highers at a Sadie Hawkins (like us).
6. Most people are nice and reasonable if you act nicely and reasonably with them (this goes for DMV employees, airline representatives and waitresses, among others)
7. Your parents are usually right.
8. Never turn down a chance to listen to one of your grandparent's stories.
9. If it doesn't taste right, it probably just needs a dollop of sour cream (my weakness).
10. Sometimes the details don't matter, and sometimes they do.
11. Cranberry Almond Crunch is the answer to most stressful situations.
12. Moms can always tell if you're tired just by hearing your voice (I'm impressed with my mom every time she does this).
13. Trust Landon's intuition. It's good.
14. Finding work that you enjoy isn't really about doing what sounds the most fun. It's about finding a place where people are motivated, the cause is important and gossip is minimal.
15. Taking photos is great, but being present is best.
16. Trust the process.
17. The Damascus, OR Dairy Queen makes the best blizzards. The one on 10th and Willis in Abilene is a close second.
18. God's plan is better than mine. Waaaaay better. Crazy better. His plan also involves more tears of joy, and I like tears of joy.
19. Read the entire recipe first.
20. Scallions and shallots are not the same thing.
21. Scallions and green onions are the same thing
22. God answers prayer.
23. He who finds God, finds life.

P.S. The Damascus DQ is definitely the best:-) xoxo
I love "read the entire recipe first". Not doing that has caused so much stress in my kitchen!

I had a really hard time with #20 as well. Glad you have a DQ in your town, life isn't worth living without one!
Happy Late Birthday! Katie, I love your blog. Actually, it inspired me to keep and maintain my own! I took a lot of pages out of your book, I hope that with time, it will morph into a being all its own. God Bless!
I love this, and your blog! Happy birthday :) God really is so good, and I agree with all of these but especially 8: my grandpa has the most amazing stories, and I would never miss a chance to hear one!
