diy felt ornaments [$2].

i realized a few weeks ago that if landon and i were going to get a full-size christmas tree, we were going to need some additions in the ornament-department. feeling inspired by these cute ornaments [below] i saw at ikea last weekend, i got busy making my own. they're super easy, and super inexpensive.
 here's what i did:
1. layer four 9x12-inch sheets of felt [not the stiffened kind], and cut two 3/4-inch strips of all four layers.
 2. cut the strips into 3/4-inch squares [you'll need about 80 squares total].
 3. divide your felt squares into piles according to the pattern you've chosen. i did 2 squares of each color as my pattern [similar to the ikea ornament].

 4. thread an embroidery needle with embroidery floss [any color floss will work], knotted at the end.
 5. string each pile of felt onto the embroidery floss, following your pattern.

 6. when all piles are threaded onto the floss, tie a knot at the opposite end and snip thread on both ends.
 7. using a hot glue gun, attach the ends to each other, forming the felt into a wreath-shape.
8. tie a ribbon in between two of the felt squares [i tied mine on the opposite side of where i glued the ends together].
9. ta-da!
here's to homey-looking christmas trees.
xoxo.
