off on the right foot.

Our weekend started with an early morning run, from-scratch blackberry waffles, a trip to the bike shop and some grocery shopping. Here's to fitting as much in two days as we did in three last weekend.

weekend highlights.

Landon was gone from Thursday through Sunday night for a track meet, so Snook and I held down the fort for the weekend. Our weekend consisted of (1) starting to part my hair down the middle for the first time since 7th grade; (2) kitty snuggles; (3) chocolate chip cookie making (recipe here); (4) Snook discovering that crawling into a grocery bag (through a tiny hole that we cut the DQ coupons on out of!) is a GREAT hideout spot; (5) chocolate chip cooking indulging; (6) more kitty snuggles

We welcomed Landon back at 7pm last night, I'm so happy to have him home for the next two weekends!

How was your weekend?

life lately: simplicity

Lately, we've been enjoying quiet, simple days that start with pumpkin spice waffles...
 (waffle recipe here)

with a good helping of homemade syrup...

cups of steaming hot tea...

and pumpkin spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (is there anything better?)...

cut in half, to share of course...
(recipe from the latest issue of everyday food)
(cupcake dome here)

It's the simple things, right?

P.S. I survived my first two days on the new job! I'll even post my first day outfit to prove it...

I also started decorating my office (which is one of the things on my twelve by 2012 list), but there's still lots of empty wall space and shelves to fill!

made it: pumpkin spice latte cheesecake by sprinkle bakes

did anyone else see the amazing recipe that heather from sprinkle bakes posted yesterday for pumpkin spice latte cheesecake? it just so happens that a short PSL is my drink of choice at starbucks, so this recipe looked like a winner.
heather topped her cheesecake with some adorable powdered sugar stripes [seriously, go look at her photos!], but i decided to go for a pumpkin on mine!

yum, yum, yum. it was so very rich and tasty.
i asked landon if he thought it was too rich, to which he replied with full sass, "i'm actually a very rich guy already, so it doesn't matter."

oh, and i couldn't resist sharing a photo of our sweet and simple lunch below. landon comes home for lunch everyday, and i'm sure going to miss our pb+j time come november when i start working!
