picnic time.

The Boxsal picnic boxes are so fun. I especially like the color-by-number "Today's Date" box.

Which is your favorite?

let's have a picnic.

We've finally gotten some cooler temps here in Abilene (it's getting down to the 50s and 60s at night...I can't even believe it!), but I've heard that they won't last. Things are heating up back in Oregon as well, which calls for an Indian Summer Picnic, don't you think? Here's what I'd take on my dream picnic:

filled with sharp cheeses, summer sausage and perfectly ripe stone nectaries.

Who's going with me?

goodbye summer.

Can you believe tomorrow is September?!? Yikes, time flies! While we've still got at least another month or so of crazy hot weather here in Texas, summer is coming to a close. We've had an eventful summer, which started with our move to Texas. Landon had his first class yesterday, and he taught his first class yesterday also! What a proud wifey I am. Before August is over, I wanted to share with you a few things that have inspired me this summer. I'm loving peachy pinks and earthtones, hence the theme running through the photo above.
Clockwise from top left:
Michaela's sweet braided knot tutorial. Love that girl.
Did you see the how-to for this amazing pallet bed by Jaime from Prudent Baby? She also made a great video of the transformation.
Place cards from our wedding, via Ruffled. This one is less in the "inspiration" category and more in the "fond memories" bank. :) Photos by Yasmin Khajavi.
My dear friend Angie's pallet frame display, featuring photos of her recent trip to Ghana.

Ask me how I feel about pallets right now.

xoxo.

PS. I've been wiggled! Thanks to Blair, who is the sweet blogger behind Wild and Precious. She's also got a killer Joe Purdy playlist up today. Head over here to check it out.

PPS. One year ago. Like I said, time flies.

goodbye summer.

as i've mentioned, the fall rains have already made their way to our part of the valley, so landon and i said farewell to summer last night in the best fashion: with mini scoops of mint chocolate chip. yum.

blooming.

my mother-in-law gave us some gorgeous flowers from her yard on our way back down to lebanon yesterday, so i scattered them throughout our apartment!

i love flowers in vases, but i also think they're adorable in everyday dishes, like pitchers, juice glasses or mugs...

hide and seek.

dear summer,
come out, come out, wherever you are.

i drove home from san diego yesterday, and boy is it nice to be back in portland. i'm ready for a fun summer surrounded by family and wonderful memories. june is of course, gloomy, at this point, so i'm anxiously awaiting a little sunshine. how delightful do these strawberries look, especially in brown paper bags? nothing says summer more than strawbs! :)
